SIX PILLARS OF PLAY
As a camp, we have developed a play program from the Province of Ontario framework of "Early Learning for Every Child Today' (ELECT). This is an advanced framework create by a panel of leading child development specialists.
SUMMER SHAKE PLAY STANDARDS
Why we maintain these standards
We believe that every activity and event should be planned and executed intentionally. To make sure that all of our activities, games, crafts are enjoyable for every child, we've developed a six pillar play program from a provincial framework. This framework was created by a panel of child development specialists. Because of this, absolutely everything we do must support most if not all of our six pillars of play!
OUR SIX PILLARS OF PLAY -
CREATIVE
Many parents choose to enrol their children in all nine weeks of camp. This is a direct reflection our goal to make sure every week is filled with fun and fresh games that many campers will have never seen anywhere else!
MEANINGFUL
We don't believe in simply filling time. Every activity is done with a purpose and plan. This means not only is your camper enjoying every moment of fun, but they'll also develop life skills.
APPROPRIATE
Appropriate activities provide our staff with the opportunity to focus on the needs of the entire group, while also considering the needs of individual children. By doing this, we offer the opportunity for self-learning and development, while standing by to coach and assist at any point.
INCLUSIVE
We understand how important feeling included is to a child and their development. This means that all our activities are done in a way that cater to all campers, or offer options to reasonable differences.
CHALLENGING
All activities are created to meet the needs of younger children while still offering opportunity to grow and challenge older children. In many circumstances, we seperate younger and older children to better accommodate this pillar of play.
ENGAGING
Our activities and well thought out and planned. Because of this children are given the opportunity to learn a new skill or develop social skill through everyday interaction with friends through play.
