Our program is developed from childhood development studies that cater to both the intuitive, learning side of a child, as well as the creative and free flowing nature of their personality. At Summer Shake, our priority is having fun, and providing your child with the tools they need to develop useful skills and abilities.
Developed with your child's creative side in mind, our program offers consistent structure, coupled with creative opportunities for them to decide what they would like to do.
We call these opportunities Streams. In these streams, children learn new skills or get opportunities to develop some skills more in depth.
Please note that we will not be offering off-site activities this summer, and will not offer food services.
Our staff will be creating an exciting on-site experience that will be fun and engaging, with special events each week.
Our church follows requirements set out by Ottawa Public Health for Covid-19 safety. Our staff are trained in safety measures and all policies will be strictly enforced, including required masks and distancing.

WEEKLY THEMES 2021
This year, because of physical distancing and Covid-19 measures, we are unable to provide our streams programming.
Children will still be able to enjoy many of the activities that we offer in our streams within their cohorts. We look forward to being able to offer this again in the coming Camp seasons! Below are some of the streams that we have offered:
BAKING & PASTRY ARTS
This summer we are following Covid-19 protocols with regard to cohorting based on age. Our ratios will follow the Ottawa Public Health guidelines.
Maintaining great ratios help Summer Shake ensure the safety of every child, no matter the situation.
On-site we maintain a minimum 1:10 ratio.
Off-site in a controlled environment we maintain a 1:8 ratio.
During out trips, we aim to maintain a 1:5 ratio or less.
Our program is currently designed to care for children aged 5-12 years old.
Unfortunately, swimming and off site restrictions do not allow for us to be flexible with these ages.
LUNCH PROGRAM & FOOD POLICIES
We ask that each child bring a lunch as well as a morning and afternoon snack. Parents may also provide money at the check-in table for their child to have extra treats at the canteen.
We also provide a packaged Subway lunch at an extra cost for those who wish to order. To find the Subway order form, please click the "parents" tab on our main page.
We take pride in offering some of the most affordable child care in the Ottawa region. Our rates are based on our operating and program costs.
Because our goal is to offer affordable, quality care to our community and not create profit, we are pleased to offer our camp at : $160/weekly (Early Bird before May 1), then $170 after. In addition you may add before or after care for an additional $10 each week, per child.
Before Care - 7:30-8:30AM (Additional $10 per week)
Drop Off - 8:30-9:00AM
Regular Programming - 9AM-4PM (Closed Door Policy)
Pick Up - 4:00-4:30PM
After Care - 4:30-5:30PM (Additional $10 per week)
We recognize that some children require regular administration of medication, so we maintain a very strict procedure for medication administration. If your child requires medication while at camp, please be sure to complete a Camp Medication Form on site upon arrival. We will only accept enough medication for one week and it must be in the original prescription bottle with the child's name and prescribing physician. All medication (even Tylenol) must kept by Lead Coach. Please speak with our Directors about special exceptions such as asthma inhalers.
Please note that our weekly swimming trips are suspended for the 2021 season
As a camp, we're committed to enable and coach children into becoming the very best they can be. Conflict situations are very important for a child to develop the necessary problem solving skills they'll use later on in life.
Because of this, Summer Shake implements a one of a kind Behaviour Intervention Plan that coaches a child through problem solving to enable them to find their own solutions.
You can download the most recent copy of our Behaviour Intervention Plan here.
On vary rare occasions, after all viable options have been attempted, a camper may be expelled from camp. In this case, no refund is issued.
